How To Download Video From Facebook Ad Library
This article outlines five easy-to-follow steps to download videos from Facebook Ad Library.
To get started we'll need to filter our search results to locate the desired video ad creative.
Let's start by opening Facebook's Ad Library with the URL Facebook.com/ads/library.
1. Chose Location and Ad Category
The location's field is usually pre-populated to match the country you currently reside in, and since search results for products and services may vary with demographics, we've been given the option to filter our search to different countries, or you could select → “All” for your search queries to be applied Worldwide, as shown in the image.
Next to it should be the “Ad Category” that allows us to filter our search between → “All ads” creatives and categories related to → “Issues, Elections, or Politics”.
Categories such as “Housing, Employment, or Credit” are dynamically filtered to certain countries like the United States.
2. Search Keyword or advertiser
Now, Let's enter a search query for the ad creative you may be interested in.
This could include relevant keywords, brand names, or specific details related to the ad creative you are looking for.
For this demonstration, I'd use the name of the Advertiser, “Lululemon” a Canadian athletic apparel brand and retailer.
3. Filter Results To Videos
To access the filter options, we'd need to select the funnel button on the right side of the results page, just below the search bar. This should display a modal box with various filter options, as shown in the image below.
So, to filter and display just video ad creatives, you'd have to change the media type to “videos” and then → Click the “Apply Filter” button.
4. Download Video File
To download the video file, you can do so either from the main results page or by opening up individual ad creatives by clicking on “See Ad details.”
To download the video file, please ensure to play the video first.
Typically, I would prefer to play the video directly from the results page and continue with my research afterward. So let's click the → “Play” button and then right-click the video to display the available options. Lastly, we'd want to select → “Save video as…”
When you receive a prompt asking you to download the file to your desktop or PC, go ahead and confirm that request by clicking on the download button. This will initiate the download process, and the file will be saved to your designated download folder on your computer.
5. Convert Video File to MP4
Next, I'd need you to open the Downloads folder, where you should find a file that appears blank or unplayable at first glance (we’ll be changing that in a minute).
To make the file playable, you'd have to rename it to something suitable for the ad creative.
For example, in my unique case, I could go with “Lululemon Ad Creative” and just before saving the file, always make sure to add “.mp4” at the suffix or end of the file name.
This should automatically convert the file to be playable across all media players, and that’s it.
